Admitted Attorney – Property Law & Sectional Title

About the role

ZDFin is looking for an admitted attorney to provide legal guidance across property management, debt recovery, governance and compliance. The role involves managing complex litigation matters and advising clients within the sectional title and community schemes environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee litigation from instruction to resolution.
• Drive recovery of outstanding levies through collection strategies and liaison with external attorneys.
• Draft, review and negotiate agreements, settlement agreements, acknowledgements of debt, legal notices and correspondence.
• Represent the business at trustee, client and after‑hours meetings, providing practical legal advice.
• Manage disputes before the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS).
• Advise clients on sectional title, governance, compliance and property law matters.
• Conduct legal risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Review legal reports, monitor compliance and ensure adherence to relevant legislation.
• Develop legal policies, procedures and best practices.
• Monitor legislative changes and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with trustees, managing agents, regulators and external legal partners.

Required profile

• Admitted attorney in South Africa.
• Minimum 2 years post‑admission litigation experience.
• Proven experience in civil litigation, debt collection and dispute resolution.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal research abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple legal matters while meeting deadlines.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
