Actuarial Executive – General Insurance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Actuarial Executive to join a leading General Insurance team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in capital modelling, including the review and development of economic capital models, challenger models, and quantitative validation of SAM/RBC standard formulas.

Key responsibilities

• Review and enhance economic capital models for the insurance portfolio.
• Develop challenger models to test assumptions and improve risk assessments.
• Perform quantitative validation of SAM and RBC standard formulas.
• Support SAM, ORSA, valuation, and solvency calculations.
• Collaborate with pricing, reserving, and capital modelling teams to ensure accurate risk metrics.

Required profile

• Qualified or near‑qualified actuary with a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
• Minimum seven years of experience in General Insurance, focusing on pricing, reserving and capital modelling.
• Strong work ethic, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Project and people management experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Statistical modelling techniques.
• R programming (advantageous).
• Experience with SAM, ORSA, valuations and solvency calculations.
