Actuarial Analyst – Healthcare & Insurance

About the role

Netcare Group is seeking a dedicated Actuarial Analyst to join its analytics team in Johannesburg. You will support data‑driven decision‑making across hospital pricing, reimbursement methods, and risk management, helping to deliver safe and effective care.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the impact of hospital pricing and tariffs to develop Alternative Reimbursement Methods (ARM).
• Produce regular reports monitoring ARM effectiveness and profitability by medical scheme and contract type.
• Track and manage key risk indicators related to hospital event costs.
• Report on revenue mix, variance drivers, and consumable usage across hospitals.
• Provide analytical input for product development, partnership negotiations, and funder discussions.
• Deliver ad‑hoc business intelligence and reporting as required by management.

Required profile

• Tertiary commercial qualification at NQF level 7 (BSc Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics).
• Minimum three years of relevant healthcare experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Resilience, enthusiasm, and a proactive drive to deliver insights.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and statistical analysis programs.
