Accounts Controller

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking an Accounts Controller to ensure accurate patient billing and timely finalisation of accounts. The role supports revenue optimisation by maintaining complete patient files and coordinating with multiple departments.

Key responsibilities

• Bill all charted items used during a patient’s stay accurately and promptly.
• Complete patient files, ensuring all supporting documentation and the final billed account are present.
• Generate and control reports to guarantee swift finalisation and rendering of accounts.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to maintain client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Minimum education: Grade 12.
• No mandatory prior experience; however, experience as an Accounts Controller or in a healthcare setting is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with invoicing and creditor/debtor reconciliation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy (extremities).
• Understanding of medical aid tariff agreements (e.g., CPP).
• Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with patient administration systems such as AS400.
• Experience with billing protocols, government gazette, EDI and DRG processes.
