Accounts Clerk

About the role

YS Distributors, a leading South African import and distribution company, is seeking a detail‑oriented Accounts Clerk to support its financial operations. This full‑time, on‑site position will handle debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and general accounting administration while working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain debtors and creditors accounts, processing invoices, credit notes and payments.
• Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and allocate customer payments.
• Assist with month‑end procedures, journal processing and preparation of financial reports.
• Handle VAT calculations, compliance requirements and liaise on account queries.
• Maintain accurate filing systems, support management reporting and collaborate with operations, sales and logistics teams.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) essential; bookkeeping or accounting qualification advantageous.
• 2‑3 years experience in debtors, creditors, bookkeeping or accounts administration.
• Experience processing transactions up to trial‑balance level is a plus.
• Clear criminal record, valid driver’s licence and professional presentation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero or SAP.
• Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Knowledge of South African accounting and payroll compliance (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL).

What we offer

• Salary range R12,000 – R15,000 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience.
