Accountant / Senior Accountant

About the role

GA MacLachlan Inc, a well‑established Chartered Accounting and Auditing Practice in Durbanville, is seeking an experienced Accountant / Senior Accountant to join the team. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients and be involved in accounting, taxation, statutory submissions, annual financial statements, independent reviews and audit‑related engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation and compilation of Annual Financial Statements for companies, trusts and individuals
• Bookkeeping through to trial balance
• Tax planning and related advisory services
• Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE and UIF returns
• Managing client accounting records and reporting requirements
• Provisional Tax, Dividends Tax, third‑party data submissions and SARS verifications/queries
• Conducting Independent Review engagements and audits for body corporates, homeowners associations, non‑profit companies and attorneys’ trust accounts

Required profile

• Relevant Accounting qualification
• Previous experience within an Accounting or Auditing Practice
• Strong accounting and taxation knowledge
• Fluency in Afrikaans and English
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport, able to commute to Durbanville
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles (advantageous)
• Independent Review experience (advantageous)
• Experience with Body Corporate audits and Attorneys’ Trust Accounts (advantageous)
