Accountant – Pretoria

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team in Pretoria. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management reports, ensuring statutory compliance, and managing the accounting function up to the trial balance, with a strong focus on CIPC compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger.
• Process accounting transactions accurately and timely.
• Prepare monthly trial balances and supporting schedules.
• Perform bank, debtor, creditor, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Manage CIPC compliance, including annual returns and company amendments.
• Assist with VAT, PAYE, UIF, and other statutory submissions.
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports.
• Support month‑end and year‑end financial processes.
• Liaise with auditors, SARS, and other regulatory bodies as required.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, proven up to trial balance.
• Solid knowledge of General Ledger reconciliations.
• Practical experience with CIPC compliance and company secretarial requirements.
• Experience with accounting software such as Pastel, Sage, Xero, or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of VAT and South African statutory compliance.
• High level of accuracy, analytical ability, and strong organisational skills.
