Accountant – Fixed-Term Contract (Accounts Receivable)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant with a primary focus on Accounts Receivable to join our Finance team on a fixed‑term basis. The role will ensure the integrity of the debtor function, support month‑end reporting and help prepare the business for upcoming integration.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end debtors function, maintain accurate customer accounts and perform reconciliations.
• Monitor outstanding balances, drive collections, resolve payment discrepancies and prepare ageing reports with commentary.
• Support credit control by monitoring limits and collaborating with internal departments to resolve billing issues.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, assist with month‑end and year‑end close, and prepare journals and accruals.
• Maintain the general ledger, support management reporting, and contribute to financial analysis.
• Prepare management reports, reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and assist with internal and external audit requirements.
• Handle VAT and statutory submissions, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• Advanced Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional membership (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA) advantageous.
• 5–7 years of accounting experience with strong focus on Accounts Receivable and month‑end reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems (Syspro, SAP preferred) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical problem‑solving, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
