Account Manager – Cape Town

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Account Manager to lead client relationships and oversee accounting services in Cape Town. The role combines client‑facing responsibilities with hands‑on accounting tasks, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and supporting junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients, maintaining strong relationships and meeting their accounting needs.
• Coordinate and deliver accounting services, including preparation of annual financial statements, tax returns and payroll reports.
• Perform independent reviews, compile financial statements, and handle VAT reconciliations and submissions.
• Review monthly accounting data captured in Xero and ensure timely submission of EMP201 and other statutory filings.
• Provide guidance, training and mentorship to junior team members.
• Assist with ad‑hoc accounting tasks and client‑related duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (BCom Accounting preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting environment.
• Qualified SAIPA Professional Accountant, ACCA member or AGA(SA) member preferred.
• Fluent in Afrikaans (spoken and written) with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax compliance, VAT and payroll.
• Experience with Xero accounting software.
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and deliver high‑quality work.
