18‑Month OSS Hastings Learnership – Call Centre Stipend

About the role

The OSS Hastings Learnership is an 18‑month, work‑based programme designed to give unemployed youth practical experience in a call‑centre environment within the financial and insurance sector. Participants will be placed under a fixed‑term learnership agreement and will receive a monthly stipend of R9 000 while completing on‑the‑job training and formal qualifications. This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking to start a career in customer service and financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Follow a predetermined roster that includes Friday to Monday shifts of nine hours each, eight‑hour Saturdays, and five‑hour Sundays, with two weekdays off (typically Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday).
• Attend a full day each week dedicated to on‑site qualifications training, covering essential call‑centre and financial‑services knowledge.
• Work a full day on any South African public holiday you are scheduled for, unless the holiday coincides with a UK public holiday.

Required profile

• Hold a Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
• Be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Be a South African citizen aged between 18 and 35.
• Have been unemployed for at least the past six months and be available to start immediately.
• No prior work experience is required.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, initiative, adaptability, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
