Tax Specialist

About the role

The Tax Specialist joins the South African Finance team of a leading global travel and leisure group. The role is hands‑on and strategic, responsible for tax compliance across multiple business units and legal entities while advising internal stakeholders on tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage corporate income tax returns, VAT returns, and withholding tax filings for all group companies.
• Prepare tax effect accounting work papers for external audit and statutory reporting on a half‑yearly basis.
• Monitor tax legislation changes, assess their impact, and implement necessary policy updates.
• Liaise with the Global Tax team, external auditors, and SARS on queries, audits, and compliance issues.
• Support internal audit, payroll, and finance teams on tax‑related queries and documentation.
• Identify tax risks, develop solutions, and drive process and system improvements.
• Deliver tax induction and ongoing training to finance staff.

Required profile

• Relevant tax qualification (e.g., CA(SA), CTA) and proven experience in corporate tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation, SARS processes, and VAT regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global tax teams and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
