Tax and Reporting Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Tax and Reporting Accountant to join a well‑established South African business in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with South African tax legislation, and support strategic tax planning within a dynamic finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly general journals, income/deferred tax journals and statutory financial statements for subsidiaries.
• Assist with quarterly, half‑year and year‑end reporting, including board presentations.
• Prepare balance sheets, cash‑flow forecasts and budgeted cash‑flow statements.
• Review tax schedules, maintain wear‑and‑tear register and calculate provisional tax.
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and income‑tax returns, manage SARS queries and ensure compliance.
• Support ERP automation, process optimisation and finance‑related projects.
• Assist the Finance Manager with department oversight and year‑end audit deliverables.
• Manage banking administration and support regulatory reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a BCom Accounting, BCom Finance or related degree.
• CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum two years post‑articles experience with strong knowledge of IFRS reporting, group accounts and consolidations.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in tax compliance, planning and reporting.
• High proficiency in MS Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and collaborate with stakeholders.
