Strategic Governance Manager

About the role

The Municipality seeks a qualified professional to lead its Strategic Governance unit. The role involves steering the development and implementation of key municipal strategies, ensuring compliance with legislation, and supporting the Municipal Manager on strategic matters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and consolidate the Service Delivery Improvement Plan (SDIP).
• Evaluate the Local Government Performance Management System.
• Conduct Section 56 manager performance reviews.
• Coordinate the development of the Municipality’s Strategic Plan, IDP, LED and related plans.
• Support the Municipal Manager on strategic issues and monitor Council decisions.
• Facilitate good governance, ethical standards and policy implementation.
• Manage budgets and financial resources effectively.
• Represent the Municipality at forums and stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Matric and a B. Degree/BTech in Public Administration, Performance Management, Project Management, Business Administration or a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Valid driving licence.
• Profound knowledge of the local government sector and applicable legislation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning and project management skills.
