About the role
The Department of Public Works and Roads is looking for a Stores Assistant to support technical staff at its Mahikeng centre. The role involves handling goods, performing basic maintenance tasks and ensuring store items are properly received, sealed and packed. This is a full‑time, onsite position that offers an entry‑level opportunity for candidates with a Grade 10 qualification.
Key responsibilities
- Assist technical staff with daily store operations.
- Clean, load and off‑load goods, equipment, spares and materials.
- Carry out handyman tasks as required.
- Receive, seal and pack store items for distribution.
Required profile
- STD 8 or Grade 10 (or equivalent) qualification.
- Knowledge of Public Service Regulations and Acts.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
- Capability to work in hot and noisy environments.
- Basic literacy skills (read and write) and customer‑service orientation.
