Specifier Consultant

About the role

The Specifier Consultant will drive profitable sales of AkzoNobel paints and coatings by building strong relationships with professional specifiers. You will act as the technical bridge between customers and our product portfolio, ensuring specifications meet both performance and commercial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain sustainable business relationships with key specifiers across target sectors.
• Generate, monitor and convert technical specifications into sales opportunities.
• Conduct building surveys, colour guidance and substrate assessments.
• Track project pipelines, report market trends and competitor activity on a monthly basis.
• Support the sales team and other functional departments with technical expertise.
• Deliver CPD training and other educational sessions for clients.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical sales or specification development within the paints and coatings industry.
• Strong ability to understand customer needs and translate them into value‑added proposals.
• Excellent communication and networking skills to influence specifiers and industry associations.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of paints, coatings and colour systems.
• Ability to assess a variety of substrates and create suitable specifications.
• Project tracking and reporting competence.
