Site Technician

About the role

The Site Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning and debugging of mechanical and electrical units at both on‑site and port locations. The role ensures technical guidance, quality inspection and safety compliance while producing regular performance reports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for unit installation and commissioning.
• Diagnose and resolve on‑site and port machinery installation issues.
• Collect and analyse statistical data on mechanical installations.
• Conduct quality inspections of construction projects and manage defect‑elimination processes.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on installation problems and spare‑part usage.
• Manage warehouse tools, personal protective equipment, spare parts and consumables, including monthly inventory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with safety and security management regulations.
• Support trial operation approvals and test‑run sign‑offs.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 with a relevant diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering.
• Highly organized, efficient and able to work under pressure.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English, Xhosa and Afrikaans.
• Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to produce clear technical and analytical reports.
