Service Supervisor – Global Grade 10

About the role

The Service Supervisor Global Grade 10 leads a team of artisans and assistants in maintaining and repairing earth‑moving equipment. The role ensures a safe working environment, compliance with OEM quality standards, and effective communication with customers and management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise artisans and assistants in maintenance and repair of earth‑moving equipment and components.
• Conduct daily risk assessments and toolbox inspections to maintain safety.
• Ensure service work complies with OEM (Caterpillar) guidelines and warranty policies.
• Resolve internal and external customer queries and report team KPIs.
• Develop, manage performance and train the productive team, including competency development.
• Oversee job initiation, quoting, parts ordering, labour booking, and job closure according to Caterpillar guidelines.
• Maintain contamination control, housekeeping and service audit outputs.
• Support artisans with re‑usability decisions and root‑cause analysis of component failures.

Required profile

• Trade Test qualified in a relevant trade (e.g., Heavy Earthmoving, Diesel Mechanic).
• Minimum 6 years as a Caterpillar General Mechanic and 4 years in component rebuild with troubleshooting exposure.
• Experience in a supervisory, team‑lead or service planner role.
• Computer literate (MS Office, SIS, ET, SAP, CRM) with good business writing skills.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and knowledge of OEM warranty systems.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and technical report writing abilities.
