Senior Professional Nurse – Critical Care / High Care

About the role

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality care within a critical care/high care environment. The role combines direct patient care with mentorship of new and student nurses, ensuring a positive client experience and effective risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting clinical quality standards.
• Manage the client experience and coordinate care delivery.
• Maintain optimal staffing resources through effective supply, retention, and utilisation.
• Empower staff competence through continuous assessment, development and mentorship.
• Assist with operational expense management, including stock and capital control.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification (post‑graduate diploma in nursing preferred for specialist units).
• Minimum three years of hospital nursing experience.
• At least one year of mentorship experience.
• Ability to work on‑site in a permanent capacity.
