Senior Legal Recoveries Attorney

About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Legal Recoveries Attorney to join our dynamic team in Sandton. This pivotal role focuses on managing high-volume legal litigation and overseeing the end-to-end recovery process to ensure optimal portfolio performance.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage high-volume litigation from initial mandate through to judgment and successful recovery.
• Draft, review, and finalize legal pleadings and formal documentation.
• Supervise vehicle repossessions, voluntary surrenders, and settlement negotiations.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends, risks, and strategic opportunities.
• Lead and mentor legal secretaries and administrative staff to ensure operational excellence.
• Maintain accurate system updates (e.g., Cheetah) and coordinate with sheriffs, correspondent attorneys, and clients.
• Handle complex legal escalations, queries, and risk management protocols.
• Produce detailed performance reports, financial forecasts, and manage billing/financial objectives.

Candidate Profile

• Hold a valid LLB degree and be an admitted Attorney.
• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in legal recoveries or collections.
• Specific exposure to secured loan litigation is highly preferred.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in a team management or supervisory capacity.
• Strong command of legal compliance frameworks including NCA, Prescription Act, FICA, and Debt Collectors Act.

• Expertise in litigation management and legal drafting.
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
• Deep understanding of Magistrate’s and High Court rules.
