Senior Internal Auditor – Mining Plant (Gauteng)

About the role

Our client in the mining industry is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join the team at its Gauteng plant. The role focuses on providing assurance over risk management, internal controls and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute assurance engagements covering risk management, control and governance frameworks.
• Identify risks, assess controls, conduct root‑cause analysis and provide actionable recommendations.
• Develop and maintain risk and control matrices (RACM) and ensure evidence meets IIA standards.
• Lead structured meetings and deliver audit projects within agreed deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF 7 qualification (Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma) in a relevant field.
• Registration with SAICA, IIA or ISACA.
• At least 3 years of internal or external audit experience, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of IIA Professional Practices Framework, IIA Code of Ethics, IFRS and King III.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with Teammate audit software.
• Familiarity with data analytic tools for audit testing.
