Senior Fleet Officer

About the role

The City of eThekwini is seeking a Senior Fleet Officer to lead the coordination, administration and optimisation of its vehicle and plant fleet in Durban. The role supports multiple user groups, oversees disposal, tender data collation and emergency response, and acts as deputy to the Fleet Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate service requirements of various user groups.
• Manage disposal of vehicles and plant.
• Collate data for tender processes.
• Control fleet administration using the Fleet Management System and Vehicle Management System.
• Administer user‑group fleets and assist in budget preparation.
• Administer the Road Transport Quality System (RTQS) and respond to unplanned emergencies.
• Conduct monthly vehicle audits and deputise for the Fleet Manager when absent.
• Implement and coordinate the fleet rationalisation policy.
• Plan, facilitate and arrange hiring of vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Monitor key performance indicators and outcomes of personnel.

Required profile

• Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Transport field (essential).
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Computer literacy.
• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Transport field (preferred).
• At least 4 years of relevant experience (preferred).
