SAIPA Trainee Accountant (3-Year Training Contract)

About the role

A 3-year training contract for a SAIPA Trainee Accountant based in Durbanville. The trainee gains hands-on experience in accounting, tax, payroll and compliance for a diverse range of SME clients, working alongside experienced mentors and using industry-leading software.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process financial records and transactions
• Assist in drafting annual financial statements
• Perform VAT and income tax calculations and submissions
• Handle payroll processing and EMP201 submissions
• Conduct bank, supplier and customer reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with SARS and CIPC regulations
• Communicate with clients and support them with financial queries
• Use accounting software such as Pastel, Xero and Sage for daily tasks
• Maintain accurate records and filing systems

Required profile

• Successfully registered to study towards an accredited degree by SAIPA, or better
• No experience required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Effective communication, integrity, professionalism and self-motivation

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Accounting software (e.g. Pastel, Xero, Sage)
