Registered Nurse - Adult ICU

About the role

A Registered Nurse is needed in the Adult ICU department of a hospital in Modderfontein. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and is personally accountable for their own acts and omissions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients or groups of patients
• Assess, plan, execute and supervise the implementation of care to meet patient needs
• Act as a role model for evidence-based care and take part in clinical governance
• Audit health records to ensure compliance and control stock so it is charged and credited correctly
• Manage risk prevention, acuity and skill mix to ensure the right level of care

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife
• 1 to 5 years of experience in the same position
• Experience with cardio-thoracic or ventilated patients is essential
• Experience in private healthcare or healthcare funding is advantageous; a specialist qualification is also advantageous

Required skills

• Compliance with the SANC code and applicable health care legislation
• Computer literacy is essential
• Fluent communication in English is essential
