Regional Organiser – Harry Gwala Region

About the role

The Regional Organiser will represent and organise workers across the Harry Gwala Region, reporting to the Regional Secretary. The role focuses on recruitment, collective bargaining and providing high‑quality representation for union members.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and recruit workers within the union’s scope.
• Coordinate collective bargaining and lead negotiations with companies and institutions.
• Build and support strong branches, shop steward committees and sub‑structures.
• Train and assist shop stewards and office bearers.
• Collaborate with the Paralegal Officer to develop a regional paralegal team.
• Represent members in grievance and disciplinary hearings when needed.
• Submit monthly reports and programmes to the Regional Secretary and PHOSEC.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Qualification in labour law or labour relations.
• Experience in a trade‑union movement.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Drafting of agreements.
