Regional Organiser – Ekurhuleni Region

About the role

The Regional Organiser will organise and represent workers across the Ekurhuleni region, reporting directly to the Regional Secretary. The role focuses on union recruitment, collective bargaining, and member representation.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and recruit workers within the union’s scope.
• Coordinate collective bargaining and lead negotiations with companies and institutions.
• Build strong branches, shop steward committees and sub‑structures to provide high‑quality member services.
• Train and support shop stewards and office bearers.
• Collaborate with the Paralegal Officer to develop a capable paralegal team for disciplinary, conciliation and arbitration matters.
• Represent members in grievance and disciplinary hearings when required and refer cases to appropriate processes.
• Submit monthly reports and programmes to the Regional Secretary and PHOSEC.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Qualification in labour law or labour relations.
• Experience working in a trade‑union movement.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office packages.
• Ability to draft agreements.
• Organising and recruitment skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
