Regional Humanitarian Programme and Accountability Officer (Secondment)

About the role

The Regional Humanitarian Programme and Accountability Officer will support ActionAid’s humanitarian programming across East and Southern Africa. Working on preparedness, emergency response, recovery and resilience, the role ensures high‑quality documentation, data management and donor reporting to strengthen programme impact and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate preparedness planning, emergency response and recovery activities within the IHART framework.
• Maintain and improve programme tracking, data management systems and knowledge‑management tools.
• Produce clear, timely reports for internal stakeholders and donors, highlighting results, lessons learned and impact.
• Support coordination with country programmes, partners and humanitarian stakeholders to ensure effective communication and evidence generation.
• Contribute to advocacy and locally‑led humanitarian action through accurate documentation and information sharing.

Required profile

• Significant experience in humanitarian programming and information management, preferably in African contexts.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, coordination mechanisms and the rights of women and youth in emergencies.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and writing skills, with the ability to work independently and in multicultural teams.
