Quantity Surveyor – Construction Projects

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor will support the project team by measuring, monitoring and reporting on material usage, waste and costs throughout the construction lifecycle. You will work closely with senior QS and construction managers to ensure budgets are adhered to and that accurate documentation is maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site measurements to verify claim accuracy and monitor material consumption.
• Prepare off‑plan measurements for procurement and planning.
• Compile daily waste reports and conduct site walk‑abouts.
• Maintain detailed material reconciliation reports.
• Prepare Method of Statement (MOS) documentation as required.
• Process material and site requisitions promptly.
• Track contra charges for cost control.
• Perform scaffold counts with site clerks.
• Assist with labour and sub‑contractor bookings.
• Review construction drawings and interpret contracts/specifications (e.g., JBCC).
• Support senior QS in cost control, valuations, interim payment certificates and final accounts.
• Record site information for monthly cost reporting.
• Ensure document control and compliance with company policies.

Required profile

• BSc or BTech degree in Quantity Surveying or related qualification.
• 0‑5 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and South African citizenship.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Required skills

• Experience with Construction Computer Software (CCS) – beneficial.
