Professional Nurse

About the role

The Professional Nurse works within a multi‑professional team at Mediclinic Upington to deliver safe, comprehensive and high‑quality nursing care in line with Scope of Practice regulations. The role involves leading and coordinating nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a positive care environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing (essential).
• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or a Postgraduate Diploma in a specialist nursing area such as Critical Care, Emergency Care or Peri‑operative Nursing (desired).

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
• Development and modification of nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control procedures.
• Patient assessment and nursing record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of pharmacology, relevant nursing legislation and risk identification.
