Principal Back End Engineer – AI Data Platform (Bangkok)

About the role

Agoda is looking for a Principal Back End Engineer to lead the design and implementation of AI‑powered data querying and data quality platforms. Based in Bangkok with relocation support, you will shape core infrastructure that powers travel‑related business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of natural‑language data query solutions that turn business questions into actionable insights.
• Architect and build scalable data quality tools and frameworks to ensure trustworthy data across the organization.
• Design, implement, and optimise analytical engines such as StarRocks for high‑performance reporting.
• Collaborate with product managers, TPMs, and cross‑functional stakeholders to define requirements and delivery road‑maps.
• Act as a hands‑on technical authority, troubleshooting complex issues across AI query engines, data quality systems, and backend services.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior engineer leading large‑scale backend systems in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong track record of delivering high‑impact AI or data‑infrastructure projects.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to mentor engineering teams.
• Willingness to work onsite in Bangkok and collaborate across global teams.
