Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) – Full‑time

About the role

The Pre‑Operative Registered Nurse (RN) ensures patients are safely prepared for surgery. Working closely with anesthesia, surgical teams and other clinicians, the RN conducts assessments, initiates IV therapy, administers pre‑op medications and verifies all documentation before the procedure.

Key responsibilities

• Review patient history, allergies, medications and surgical consent forms.
• Measure and record baseline vital signs and ensure patient stability.
• Initiate and manage IV lines, administer pre‑operative meds per orders.
• Perform required pre‑op testing (labs, EKG) on the day of surgery.
• Conduct the Universal Protocol ‘Time Out’ to prevent wrong‑site errors.
• Educate patients and families about the peri‑operative process.
• Maintain infection‑control standards and safety protocols.
• Document all care accurately in the EMR and report any incidents.
• Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
• Assist with patient positioning and comfort during preparation.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure and ability to practice independently.
