PR & Communications Manager

About the role

Counder is building a global flagship conference from the African continent and needs a PR professional who can make its story travel worldwide. You will own earned media, build relationships with editors, journalists, producers and creators, and craft the communications that amplify Counder’s impact.

Key responsibilities

• Manage media and creator relations, pitching and placing stories across a long‑list of outlets.
• Develop and deliver media & creator partnerships, securing new partners and producing content for existing ones such as CNBC Africa, Business Insider Africa and TechCabal.
• Write press releases, newsletters, press kits and other external communications for the Counder network.
• Coordinate team PR activities, including interviews, podcasts and speaking slots, and ensure thorough briefing and preparation.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of experience in public relations or communications.
• Proven track record of securing coverage with media and creators.
• A keen sense for stories that journalists will run.
• Strong writing ability for pitches, releases and newsletters.
• Self‑directed, comfortable working with senior leadership.
• A network in media, TV, press or creator communities is a plus.
