About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific – BioServices is seeking a Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant to support its BioServices (ICRPMC) team. This 12‑month fixed‑term position involves handling investigational products, maintaining cold‑chain integrity, and ensuring compliance with GMP and GxP standards in a warehouse and clinical research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate shipment documentation for pharmacist review.
• Receive, inspect, and document clinical research product shipments.
• Manage storage and handling of investigational products, including temperature‑controlled environments.
• Process site orders using inventory systems such as COSMOS.
• Pack and dispatch temperature‑controlled shipments to clinical trial sites.
• Maintain cold‑chain integrity (ambient, refrigerated, frozen).
• Support inventory control, stock counts, and system reconciliation.
• Conduct environmental monitoring of temperature and humidity.
• Maintain accurate documentation, scanning, and filing systems.
• Assist with labelling operations for clinical trial materials.
• Liaise with internal teams, trial sites, suppliers, and couriers.
• Support continuous compliance with SOPs, GxP standards, and training requirements.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Post‑Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Minimum 2 years experience in pharmaceutical distribution or wholesale environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with COSMOS inventory system.
• Computer word‑processing skills.
• Use of Internet tools for technical research.
• Temperature monitoring and cold‑chain management.
