People & Culture Governance & Compliance Lead

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a People & Culture Governance & Compliance Lead to join its Midrand team. The role will establish and maintain robust governance, compliance and risk management across all transformation activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory, ethical, ESG and audit requirements while protecting the organisation’s credibility.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain transformation governance frameworks aligned to strategy, ESG, UN Global Compact and national regulations.
• Act as the central authority for transformation governance, embedding standards across People & Culture initiatives.
• Establish decision‑making forums, escalation paths, approval thresholds and accountability structures.
• Maintain the transformation risk register, KRIs and mitigation plans, and oversee the Gift Register and conflict‑of‑interest declarations.
• Lead ethics awareness, compliance monitoring and governance controls within change management and workforce transitions.
• Manage engagements with the B‑BBEE Commission and Competition Commission, including submissions, audits and remediation.
• Own quarterly and bi‑annual GRC internal audits, develop and enforce People & Culture policies, and oversee external audit processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Governance or Business.
• 3–5 years of experience in governance or compliance, preferably within regulated industries.
• Knowledge of BEE requirements.
• Professional certification in risk, governance or auditing is an advantage.
• Experience with transformation governance in regulated sectors is beneficial.
