Payroll Administrator – Finance Service Centre

About the role

Provide payroll administrative services to the union, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, statutory deductions and related reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Load new employees with contracts or appointment letters into the SAGE VIP system.
• Process salary changes such as increases, bonuses, garnishees and third‑party payments.
• Run monthly payroll, reconcile results and distribute payslips.
• Perform monthly and annual payroll reconciliations, including IRP5 and OID statements.
• Update the system annually with new medical aid rates, tax tables and other statutory changes.
• Maintain correct general ledger codes and reconcile payroll clearing accounts in ACCPAC.
• Ensure compliance with SARS, UIF, COIDA and other payroll statutory requirements.
• Maintain confidential payroll records, filing systems and regular data backups.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience working within a trade‑union environment.
• Commitment to the union’s objectives and ability to work under pressure.
• Honest, reliable and able to collaborate within a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.

Required skills

• SAGE VIP payroll software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
