Packaging Inventory Clerk – Raw Materials

About the role

The Packaging Inventory Clerk is responsible for managing all raw material inventory within the logistics supply chain at Newlands Brewery. The role ensures product quality standards are met and that all inventory movements are accurately recorded in SAP.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain raw material inventory quality standards in line with VPO requirements.
• Block and release inventory in SAP using physical blocking mechanisms for quality‑related and obsolete stock.
• Conduct independent inventory counts, reconcile differences with SAP, and escalate unresolved issues.
• Validate packaging receipts, process write‑offs, breakages, obsolescence and salvage stock in SAP.
• Monitor daily controls, open shipments, claims processing and budget vs. actual costs.
• Ensure compliance with freshness, rotation, and concession policies, including proper GRN handling.
• Apply good waste management, housekeeping, 5S principles and conduct risk assessments.
• Liaise with internal and external customers and support team goals.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in a stock control environment.
• Strong knowledge of stock control processes and inventory governance.
• Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
• Licensed FLT driver with attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
