Operational Emergency Care Practitioner

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking an Operational Emergency Care Practitioner to deliver high‑quality critical care within its ER24 operational environment. The role combines direct patient care with operational readiness and public representation of the service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure operational readiness for emergency calls.
• Administer patient care in line with the scope of practice and clinical guidelines.
• Market and maintain a positive public image for ER24.
• Provide basic shift administration services, including documentation and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Emergency Medical Care or Bachelor in Emergency Medical Care.
• Successful completion of training related to Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (or willingness to complete during probation).
• Essential experience: newly qualified Emergency Care Practitioner or operational EMS experience.
• Desired experience: prior EMS operational experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
• Ability to apply best clinical practice in an EMS environment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
