Merchandising Consultant – Space & Assortment

About the role

We are looking for a Merchandising Consultant to join our Cape Town team and help leading retailers optimise store space, assortment and overall merchandising performance. The role focuses on delivering RELEX‑based solutions for both micro‑ and macro‑space planning as well as assortment optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of Space & Assortment implementations and ongoing retail optimisation projects.
• Design, configure and implement RELEX solutions across Micro Space, Macro Space and Assortment Planning environments.
• Lead and participate in customer workshops, design sessions, configuration and playback meetings.
• Configure and optimise RELEX solutions for space planning and assortment capabilities.
• Translate retail use cases into scalable system solutions and provide expert advice on merchandising, category management and space optimisation.
• Support Micro Space initiatives such as blocking, sequencing, optimisation and automation.
• Support Macro Space planning and optimisation across retail environments.
• Configure and optimise assortment planning, clustering and ranging solutions.
• Own the configuration plan, integrate it into project plans, provide time estimates and manage escalations.
• Collaborate with technical teams and customers to validate and troubleshoot retail data.
• Train customers and become a recognised subject‑matter expert.
• Define and monitor KPIs to measure customer success and business value.

Required profile

• Strong retail merchandising expertise.
• Consulting experience with a client‑focused mindset.
• Ability to understand and translate retail use cases into system solutions.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
