Medical Officer – Hospital Group – Mafikeng

About the role

Provide patient‑centred, holistic medical care within a hospital group, advising on health issues, disease control and supporting diagnosis, treatment and management of physical injuries and illnesses.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee patient diagnosis and treatment for rehabilitation, mental and physical ailments.
• Determine and prescribe appropriate courses of treatment.
• Research and consult on medical technology opportunities for patient care.
• Report safety hazards and ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.
• Document and track cases, using approved platforms and reporting templates.
• Provide detailed, confidential reports to relevant medical or familial stakeholders.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective service delivery.
• Identify educational opportunities for clinical and allied professionals and contribute to training plans.
• Maintain CPD points, ensure accurate billing and financial documentation, and uphold statutory standards and risk management frameworks.

Required profile

• MBCHB degree and registration with HPCSA as a medical practitioner.
• Minimum 5 years post‑community service experience; psychiatric, rehabilitation or private healthcare exposure advantageous.

Required skills

• BLS certification (or equivalent).
• ACLS certification (or equivalent).
• APLS certification (or equivalent).
• ATLS certification (or equivalent).
• Computer literacy.
