Mechanical Designer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team in Gqeberha. You will support project leaders and engineers with component selection, layout design and detailed drawings for innovative products and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Leader, Senior Designer or Design Engineer in selecting components and detailing designs.
• Layout and design assigned areas following company procedures and standards.
• Design general arrangements or base systems based on customer needs and requirements.
• Analyze data to determine feasibility of product proposals.
• Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layouts with detailed drawings and schematics.
• Review work orders and procedural manuals to identify critical content.
• Calculate figures to convert design dimensions for production processes.
• Support systems development such as drafting standards, parts‑list systems, and computer programming.
• Perform other work‑related tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Draughting Certification.
• Minimum of 5 years design experience.
• Minimum of 5 years CAD experience.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for detailed part drawings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Inventor (essential).
• Proficiency in Creo (Pro‑Engineer) – a plus.
• Experience with Windchill/PDM system – a plus.
• Experience with Teamcenter – a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with API and ASME standards.
