Mathematics Teacher for Grades 8-12

About the role

The school seeks a dedicated Mathematics Teacher for Grades 8‑12 who will promote the academic progress and well‑being of each learner. You will create a positive, motivating environment that helps students reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging mathematics lessons for Grades 8‑12.
• Establish a nurturing classroom atmosphere that supports learning.
• Maintain professional standards regarding punctuality, behaviour, work quality and student homework.
• Continuously evaluate and refine teaching practice.
• Provide extra lessons on two afternoons per week when required.
• Produce high‑quality learning resources for students.
• Respond to parent emails and telephone messages within 24 hours.
• Set and mark examinations, write report comments and prepare practical learning opportunities.
• Attend school special occasions as directed by the Head.
• Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by the School Head or line manager.

Required profile

• Ability to connect effectively with children.
• Thorough understanding of mathematics curriculum and IEB requirements.
• Strong planning, organising and reporting abilities.
• Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and a strong team orientation.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience at an IEB school.
• Experience teaching Matric mathematics and marking IEB assessments is advantageous.
