Manager Electrical Services (Level 2)

About the role

The Manager Electrical Services (Level 2) leads the municipality’s electrical department, ensuring reliable electricity delivery, infrastructure development and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor short‑term and long‑term plans for electrical services, aligning with municipal objectives.
• Prepare capital and operating budgets, control expenditures and report against approved allocations.
• Manage the full lifecycle of municipal electrical projects, from scoping and award to delivery and hand‑over.
• Oversee maintenance of existing electrical networks and supervise upgrades, new construction and renewal works.
• Analyse and reduce electricity distribution losses to meet NERSA licence conditions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate and a NQF Level 7 Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) from an accredited institution.
• Registered Professional Technician with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in municipal electrical services or similar.
