Maintenance Assistant – Hospital Facility

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will work at Life Beacon Bay Hospital, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. The role involves assisting with the upkeep, inspection and basic repair of electrical, air‑conditioning, plumbing and structural systems within the hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out restoration and repairs of building fabric and equipment according to daily job cards.
• Perform risk‑management checks and complete daily check‑list items.
• Conduct fault‑finding and basic system settings to ensure continuous availability.
• Execute preventative maintenance inspections as directed by the supervisor.
• Participate in SHEQ procedures and maintain accurate job‑card documentation.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with at least 2 years of maintenance experience.
• Proof of competency in any two of the following: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, glazing, welding or tiling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience dealing with customers.
• Ability to work under pressure and follow safety protocols.
