Lighting Product Engineer

About the role

As a Lighting Product Engineer you will drive the design, testing and commercialization of Rubicon's lighting and smart‑technology portfolio. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to create energy‑efficient, sustainable lighting solutions that integrate with intelligent building ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, prototype, test, hand‑over to manufacturing and maintain high‑quality lighting products throughout the full development lifecycle.
• Develop PCB layouts, manage thermal performance, and implement communication interfaces such as Bluetooth, DALI, DALI‑2, Casambi and KNX.
• Create and maintain automated test suites to ensure product reliability and compliance.
• Collaborate with cloud developers to integrate devices into cloud platforms and specify firmware features.
• Produce technical documentation and provide second‑level support for customers.

Required profile

• Degree or advanced diploma in Electronics, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering.
• 2‑5 years of experience in product development, electronic hardware design and lighting hardware design.
• Strong understanding of LED technology, CV/CC driving, luminaire compliance and lighting bus systems.

Required skills

• LED hardware design, PCB development, thermal management.
• Embedded software/firmware development (Go, Python, C++, JavaScript).
• IoT protocols and platforms (MQTT, Influx).
• Microcontrollers such as ESP, SAMD, PIC, ATMEGA, STM.
• Communication protocols: Modbus, RS485, Ethernet.
• Lighting control standards: Bluetooth, DALI, DALI‑2, Casambi, KNX.
