Lifeguard – Swimming Pool (Sedibeng Region)

About the role

The municipality is seeking a qualified Lifeguard to manage and supervise the swimming pool in the Sedibeng region. The role involves ensuring the safety of all pool users, maintaining water quality, and delivering basic swimming instruction where required.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close the pool each day according to the scheduled hours.
• Monitor pool activities, identify safety issues, and intervene quickly in dangerous situations.
• Operate the pool’s chemical treatment system, regularly checking and adjusting pH and chlorine levels.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic pool environment.
• Enforce pool rules, check guests in and out, and rotate between lifeguard stations.
• Provide swim lessons and coaching when needed.
• Monitor weather reports to ensure guest safety.
• Assist with sport and recreation activities during the off‑season and perform any ad‑hoc tasks assigned by management.

Required profile

• Grade 10 education.
• Lifeguard Certificate and Level 1 First Aid certification.
• At least 1 year of relevant lifeguarding experience.
• Strong swimming ability and knowledge of pool rules and regulations.
• Ability to remain calm, act quickly, and communicate effectively.
• Valid driver’s licence is an advantage.
