Legal Counsel (Commercial, Disputes & Risk)

About the role

Interpath is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join its in‑house legal and risk function in Cape Town. The role blends commercial contracting, dispute and claims management, and regulatory support, offering broad exposure across the firm’s advisory, restructuring and corporate activities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including client engagement terms, supplier agreements, software licences, procurement contracts and leases.
• Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders and senior management.
• Support business teams on contractual matters, negotiate terms and resolve queries.
• Assist in developing and improving contracting policies, procedures and legal risk frameworks.
• Manage complaints and claims from initial assessment through response drafting and outcome tracking.
• Work with external counsel and internal teams on contentious matters, contributing to litigation strategy, case preparation and document review.
• Respond to regulatory enquiries, investigations and third‑party requests, supporting overall regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Motivated and adaptable legal professional with a strong interest in commercial, dispute and regulatory work.
• Ability to act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and senior management.
• Experience supporting business teams on contractual, legal and risk matters.
• Comfort working in a fast‑paced professional services environment.
