Junior PR Account Executive

About the role

Pulse Communications is seeking a motivated Junior PR Account Executive to join our Cape Town team. You will support the delivery of high‑impact communication campaigns, work closely with senior colleagues, and help drive media visibility for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, producers and influencers, especially in B2B and trade media.
• Pitch press releases, story angles and expert commentary to secure coverage and position clients as thought leaders.
• Draft press releases, media pitches, briefing notes and other PR materials; prepare clients for media interviews.
• Monitor media coverage, compile reports and maintain accurate media lists.
• Assist in researching and developing PR strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Support content creation for PR and digital channels, and contribute creative ideas in brainstorming sessions.
• Coordinate media outreach for events, trade shows and press briefings, including logistics and on‑site support.
• Maintain internal communication on media opportunities, campaign progress and client meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced agency environment.
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Curiosity about business, technology and current affairs.
• Strong research and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with media monitoring tools.
