Junior Investment Research Analyst

About the role

Our client is a fast‑growing boutique investment company managing R70bn in assets across local and offshore markets. As a Junior Investment Research Analyst you will join a team of experienced, globally‑connected investment professionals and gain hands‑on exposure to asset management, wealth management and unit‑trust industries.

Key responsibilities

• Support the fund manager research process, including manager and fund due diligence, quantitative and qualitative analysis, portfolio construction inputs and preparation of research materials for the Investment Committee.
• Maintain the integrity, structure and accuracy of data feeding research, analytics and reporting processes.
• Gain exposure to investment analytics, trading and reporting, covering investment research, asset allocation, portfolio management, implementation, compliance and client reporting.

Required profile

• Exceptional academic track record.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
• Up to 3 years of experience in asset management, wealth management, fund research or a related internship; recent graduates with strong academic records are welcome.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, economics, investment management, actuarial science or a numerate discipline.
• Progress towards, or intention to pursue, a professional qualification such as the CFA.
• Emerging leadership qualities with potential for greater responsibility.
• Genuine interest in global markets, fund managers and investment strategy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, high‑performance team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Familiarity with SQL.
• Experience with Power BI or Power Query.
