Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑driven Junior Accountant / Bookkeeper to join a professional services firm on a permanent remote basis in South Africa. You will own the full bookkeeping function while supporting debtors, creditors, reporting and compliance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and process transactions using cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Perform bank and credit‑card reconciliations and support weekly payment runs.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting packs.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and ad‑hoc finance projects.
• Generate and manage customer invoices and process supplier invoices.
• Manage debtor collections, monitor outstanding balances and handle creditor records.
• Maintain compliance documentation and support statutory submissions.
• Contribute to automation, process improvements and internal control initiatives.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Financial degree or diploma in Accounting or Bookkeeping, with Matric qualification.
• Proven bookkeeping experience covering debtors and creditors.
• Strong financial acumen, analytical ability and high attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
• Experience with procurement or vendor systems is a plus.
