About the role
The UCT Internship Program offers a structured learning experience for students and recent graduates who want hands‑on exposure across diverse university departments. Interns will work alongside academics and professionals on impactful projects while developing practical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with professionals and academics to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Assist in research activities, data analysis, and literature reviews as directed.
- Handle administrative tasks such as organizing events, coordinating meetings, and maintaining records.
- Participate in departmental discussions, workshops, and training programs.
- Provide input in team meetings and share progress updates on assigned tasks.
- Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all assigned work.
- Follow ethical guidelines, confidentiality, and university code of conduct.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment that fosters diversity.
- Seek personal and professional growth opportunities and demonstrate willingness to learn.
- Adhere to UCT policies, including health and safety regulations.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree (e.g., Humanities, Sciences, Engineering, Business, Health Sciences, Social Sciences).
- Strong academic record and genuine interest in a career in the chosen field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with relevant software tools, research methodologies, or technical skills related to the internship.
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Adaptable, open to feedback, and eager to learn from experienced professionals.
