Industrial Engineering Lecturer (Various Academic Levels)

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering at North-West University seeks qualified industrial engineering academics to join its School of Industrial Engineering. Positions are available across five academic ranks, from Junior Lecturer to Professor, on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver student‑centred teaching for the BEng Industrial Engineering programme and postgraduate diplomas.
• Develop and supervise research projects in areas such as numerical methods, machine learning, data analytics, operations research, business engineering and simulation.
• Engage with industry partners to align curriculum and research with real‑world challenges.
• Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development, and academic governance.

Required profile

• Relevant BEng or BScEng in Industrial Engineering meeting ECSA registration criteria.
• PhD in Industrial Engineering or a related field (required for senior ranks).
• For Professor: minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in higher education and an NRF‑rated research portfolio.
• For Associate Professor: minimum 10 years of experience, including 3 years in higher education, with a trajectory toward NRF rating.
• For Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Junior Lecturer: appropriate academic qualifications and experience as defined by the university.
